Renewal of a Russian citizen’s foreign passport in Ukraine

Extending the validity of a foreign passport

If your Russian passport has expired and you are in Ukraine, the standard options do not work. It is impossible to go to the consulate without a valid passport, and there are no Russian consulates in Ukraine. We deal with precisely such situations and assist in obtaining a new passport outside Ukraine, taking into account departure, deadlines and return.

We work with Russian citizens who live in Ukraine on the basis of a temporary or permanent residence permit. We take on cases where documents have already expired and time is running out.

What we do

  • We assess your situation and determine the realistic options for obtaining a new foreign passport.
  • We organise the departure process for submitting documents.
  • We accompany you to the consulate and monitor the deadlines.
  • We consider in advance the issues of returning to Ukraine and further legal residence.

Our task is to resolve the passport issue and not create new problems for you.

When only the foreign passport is expired

If the internal passport of a Russian citizen remains valid, the situation can be resolved more quickly. In such cases, there are viable options for departure and obtaining a new foreign passport, but they still require proper organisation and support. We take control of this process and accompany it from start to finish.

When both passports are expired

If both your foreign passport and internal passport are expired, the situation becomes much more complicated. Independent actions here often lead to a dead end and a waste of time. We also work with such cases, developing a safe course of action that takes into account current restrictions and practices.

Consulates and document submission

Depending on the situation, a new foreign passport may need to be issued outside Ukraine. We assist with document submission at Russian consulates in other countries, including Moldova and Armenia, and take into account all related issues associated with departure and return in advance.

Why it is important to consider temporary or permanent residence in Ukraine

Having a temporary or permanent residence permit directly affects your strategy. This applies to both departure and return after passport replacement. We always take into account your status in Ukraine and organise the process so that there are no problems with the migration authorities.

What situations do we deal with most often?

  • People come to us when their foreign passport has expired.
  • When they are unable to leave the country on their own.
  • When time is running out and the cost of a mistake is too high.
  • When both passports have expired.
  • When it is important to maintain legal status in Ukraine.

In such cases, standard advice does not work and an individual plan is needed!

Where to start

If you are in Ukraine and your Russian passport has expired, start with a consultation. We will assess your situation and offer a workable solution without unnecessary risks.

At what stage do questions arise

The problem almost always starts the same way. A foreign passport expires, but the decision is postponed. Then restrictions on travel appear, then the rules change, then it turns out that there are no consulates in Ukraine. At some point, a person realises that there are significantly fewer options than there were before.

We most often get involved at this stage — when the documents have already expired and time is starting to work against the person.

What working with us looks like

The work begins with an analysis of the situation and documents. We assess what options are actually available right now and propose a working route for obtaining a new foreign passport. Next, we accompany the process of departure, submit documents to the consulate and monitor the deadlines. We separately consider the return to Ukraine and further legal stay.

You understand what is happening at each stage and what risks are taken into account in advance.

The sooner, the better!

If you are in Ukraine and understand that the situation with your foreign passport has reached an impasse, it is better to resolve it now, rather than when there are even fewer options available. The longer the issue with expired documents drags on, the more difficult and expensive the solution becomes.

We work with precisely such cases and get involved when standard options no longer work.
